Part-Time Project Designer (Position Filled)

Overview
Adams Architecture LLC is a Wisconsin-based solo architecture practice focused on small to mid-scale design services across multiple markets, including multifamily housing, commercial tenant improvements, residential alterations, healthcare environments, and science + technology spaces. We are seeking part-time assistance in a supporting role as we scale operations and build internal capacity. This is a W-2 position reporting directly to Brett Adams.

Position
Title: Project Designer
Classification: Part-Time W-2 Employee
Schedule: flexible hours (project dependent), work-from-home
Compensation: Competitive part-time hourly rate, <32 hours/month
Start Date: TBD (pending onboarding completion)

Responsibilities

  • Support early-phase schematic design (SD), design development (DD), and construction documentation (CD) efforts under direct supervision
  • Draft plans, diagrams, sections, elevations, and schedules as directed
  • Organize drawing sheets, integrate consultant backgrounds, and assist in preparing permit-ready documentation
  • Conduct research on materials, precedents, and applicable codes
  • Assist with proposal development and internal project tracking
  • All work is performed under the review and control of a licensed architect; the employee will not issue, seal, or independently represent instruments of service

No client-facing work or independent representation permitted. The Project Designer will not sign, seal, or issue instruments of service publicly.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in architecture or related field
  • Interest in pursuing licensure (not required, but preferred)
  • Working knowledge of drafting or design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or equivalent)
  • Strong written communication and research skills
  • Self-directed and organized

  • This role is intended as a foundational, internal support position.
  • Position is filled but posted for documentation and transparency purposes.
  • Hours and compensation are limited by current business capacity; subject to reevaluation as firm revenue grows.
  • The position is not a pathway to ownership or licensure authority at this time, but may evolve if the candidate becomes licensed and conditions permit.
  • Adams Architecture LLC is a practice led by a licensed architect and subject to all state regulatory requirements.
